ANNOUNCES NEW EP, SHARES VULNERABLE BALLAD "HURT U"

MONTREAL, QC VIA TORONTO, ON - June 1, 2022 - TODAY, Montreal Alt-Pop artist Emi Jeen announces the release of her new EP Why So Serious?, out September 7th, and unveils the single, "Hurt U". This new track, produced by Andrea Rocha, allows us for the very first time to see a more vulnerable side of Emi's personality. It is founded on a touching framework of piano, violin, and voice, like a sustained and disarming crescendo. "Hurt U" is a glimpse of a love that didn’t survive. It's the point of no return. You realize that you hurt the person you loved and that it's too late to apologize;" shares Emi.
At the very beginning of her solo project, Emi went to Sweden, then to London, where she met Andrea Rocha - a Mexican-Canadian songwriter, producer, and cellist based in London. During this first time together, Emi and Andrea worked on a few songs, and united their universes.
A few years later, this authentic collaboration gave way to something very organic during the pandemic. “Hurt U” was created from a distance, between Montreal and London. “I started this song on the piano and couldn't finish it. I sent it to Andrea and she was instantly inspired by it. We were able to finish it through many back and forths via email and zoom," says Emi. "She recorded cello and Jonathan Chan recorded some violin. I then recorded all the vocals in Montreal, even some by myself.”
The EP will also include "No Emotion = No Tomorrow", "One Million Perfume" and "Dark Lonely Summer". In the meantime, Emi has been busy lighting up the stage with her incredible live show, including recent performances in Toronto for School Night, and the LEMMON Stage at the El Mocambo.
